Hello! We are Zucu and Eric. We started on this path over twelve years ago, when we fell deeply in love. Despite being so drawn to one another, we quickly came up against a series of unconscious habits that made it incredibly challenging to experience the depth of intimacy we longed for. As we tried to navigate conversations about sex, attraction, trust, money, and family, we fell into well-worn cultural habits of blame, shame, insecurity, and resentment.
Fortunately, we did not stop there. We went searching for support.
First, we turned to psychotherapy. We saw therapists individually and together. We studied nervous systems and attachment styles. We learned that our way of relating was not unique; we were engaged in a relational pattern often referred to as anxious/avoidant. While there was a lot of learning in this time, we were still cycling through the same painful patterns of relating.
Next, we turned to our spiritual practice and community. We went on silent meditation retreats, attended dharma talks, and met with spiritual teachers one-on-one. We often experienced a personal shift in these spaces, but we were not experiencing the relational well-being that we knew in our bones was possible.
Things started to shift when we were introduced to Nonviolent Communication (NVC). At first, we engaged NVC as a communication tool, and that was somewhat helpful. As we dove into the practice, we soon realized that underneath the tools was a radical paradigm shift – a shift in consciousness often referred to as compassionate consciousness. As we used the tools to start embodying compassionate consciousness, our relationship changed dramatically.
We soon realized that it was not just our relationship that was changing – everything about our lives was changing, in radical and beautiful ways. We continued to follow this thread by deepening our study of compassionate consciousness, nervous systems, somatic awareness, and community building. Eventually, friends and acquaintances noticed the way we were relating, and they started asking us for support in their own relationships. It has been such a joy to contribute in this way! We soon realized that we had a calling to offer our services to the greater community.
If you feel called to explore the possibility of working with one or both us, we invite you to reach out for an introductory call. Together, let's build a more beautiful and connected world.
